Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has stated that he and his Fulham teammates are targeting a good placement on the Premier League table next season, Soccernet.ng reports.
Iwobi joined Fulham from Everton last summer in a deal worth €25.7 million, and he quickly became an important player for the club. Last season, he registered six goals and two assists in 33 games for the club.
His contributions eventually helped guide Fulham to a 13th-place finish in the English Premier League last season.
After the summer break, Iwobi is now back at Fulham for pre-season. And ahead of the new Premier League campaign, the 28-year-old midfielder has made a statement of intent.
The Super Eagles star has stated that at the end of last season, he and his teammates were not satisfied with their finish in the league. But they are targeting a better finish in the English top-flight next season.
“I can’t wait to get the new season kicked off again,” Iwobi told The Standard.
“With Fulham, we had a bit of an inconsistent season, but we know how good we are.
“When we were talking at the end of the season, we were thinking, we see the quality in the room, let’s try and push up the table. Everyone is eager and ready to go.”
Fulham play their first game of the season against Manchester United at Old Trafford on August 16, and they will be looking to have a solid start to the campaign.
