Report: Wilfred Ndidi to make Leicester City U-turn amid Sevilla, Juventus, Barcelona links

Wilfred Ndidi and his compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho are currently without a club as their contracts expired last month

Super Eagles star Wilfred Ndidi is on the verge of extending his contract with English Premier League newcomers Leicester City, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian midfielder’s contract with the Foxes expired on June 30, and with interests from Barcelona, Sevilla, Juventus and a host of others, he has been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium.

However, reports from Footmercato suggest that the Nigerian international has reached an agreement with the East Midlands club to extend his stay.

There has been no official announcement about his contract extension from the club or Ndidi’s camp, but it suggests that Ndidi will play a key role in their return to the EPL.

Recall that the 27-year-old was crucial—under the guidance of Enzo Maresca—in their promotion to the top-flight division scoring six goals, and making six assists in his 36 match appearances for the club.

Earlier, Soccernet.ng reported that the Nigerian defensive midfielder rejected a €1.5 million yearly deal tabled by Sevilla FC, demanding €4 million to sign any deal.

New reports suggest that Leicester City, who previously offered Ndidi a weekly salary in the region of £75,000, are likely to increase his salary to retain him for another season.

As football fans await an official announcement, the Nigerian star remains a free agent without a club and is still heavily linked with a move away from England.
