Former West Ham United and Celtic striker, Frank McAvennie has urged his former club to make a swift move for former Leicester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 27-year-old has been a native of the English Premier League, winning the league with Manchester City, and the EFL Championship, FA Cup and Community Shield with Leicester City.
The Nigerian’s contract with the Foxes ended last month, and he’s been liked with Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United, as earlier reported by Soccernet.ng.
McAvennie who scored 16 goals in 68 games for the Hammers between 1989 and 1992 has admitted his admiration for Iheanacho and wants West Ham to sign him to help aid their attack ahead of next season.
“I like Iheanacho. I think he’s a great player. Oh my god, on a free transfer, I’d take him. It’s a no-brainer for me, though I’m not sure who this new manager will want,” the 64-year-old said in an interview with West Ham Zone.
Like Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi is also a free agent after spending seven years at the King Power Stadium and has been linked with a move to bigger clubs, but the versatile midfielder has his heart set on a club that will be playing in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Iheanacho has a decent goal-contribution record in the English Premier League with a hand in a goal every 117 minutes.
