Fresh details emerge as PSG’s pursuit of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen hits major roadblock

Victor Osimhen may stay in Napoli longer than expected this summer as his potential transfer to PSG is not going as smoothly as he would have liked, Soccernet.ng reports.

PSG have looked the most likely destination for Osimhen if he leaves Naples after Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United all appeared to have dropped out of the race for the Nigerian striker.

While Napoli reportedly have an agreement in place with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, Osimhen’s desire to remain in Europe has fueled PSG’s pursuit of his signature.

However, Napoli and PSG have failed to reach a transfer agreement for Osimhen and fresh reports have revealed where the roadblocks are.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Napoli and PSG remain miles apart in their negotiations regarding Osimhen.

As per the reports, PSG are not ready to trigger the €130 million release clause in Osimhen’s contract. While Napoli are open to offering a discount, both clubs are still not in agreement about Osimhen’s market value.

PSG have also rejected Napoli’s demand to include South Korea’s Kang-in Lee in the deal.

The Ligue 1 champions signed the 23-year-old attacking midfielder from RCD Mallorca in July 2023 and rate him highly.

While PSG are only interested in acquiring Osimhen if one of Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani leaves Paris this summer, the Parisians are not desperate to sell any of the duo.

With all these many complications around the deal, it appears that Osimhen’s transfer to PSG is not happening anytime soon.

Soccernet.ng earlier reported that Osimhen will be open to staying in Napoli for at least one more year should his proposed move to France or England fails to materialise this summer.

The Super Eagles striker has been working with new Napoli coach Antonio Conte in the club’s preseason camp ahead of the 2024/25 season.
