Desire Oparanozie reveals vital quality that Super Falcons can use to down Brazil in Olympics opener

Former Super Falcons striker Desire Oparanozie has stated that the team can defeat Brazil in their opening game of the 2024 Paris Olympics if they have a strong mentality, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Falcons take on Brazil in their opening game of the Paris Olympics on Thursday, and it promises to be a tough encounter. Although, they are perennial queens of the continent, the Super Falcons have not consistently proved themselves on the world stage.

Brazil, on the other hand are world beaters, albeit they have often underachieve at the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics. Till date, they have never won the World Cup and the Olympics.

Still, going into the fixture, the Canarinhas are odds on favourites due to their quality and pedigree.

Nonetheless, Randy Waldrum and his Super Falcons will be looking to stage a performance similar to the one they put up at the last World Cup so they can get something from the game against Brazil.

Ahead of the fixture, former Super Falcons star Oparanozie has showed her support to the team and she believes they can nick a win if they have a strong mentality.

“What helps win games is mentality, irrespective of preparation or the opponent or any other negative factor,” Oparanozie told Lagos Talks.

“If everyone of them can get into the party, get into every game with their A-game, concentrate and focus till the last whistle, I feel we can get something from it.”

Both teams will be looking to avoid defeat in the game because they still have games against Japan and World champions Spain.
