Nottingham Forest forward Taiwo Awoniyi and FC Nantes star Simon Moses have been spotted recovering in Kaduna following their injury setbacks, Soccernet.ng reports.
Awoniyi sustained recurring knocks that left him out of key games for the Reds and forced him to withdraw from the AFCON squad due to injury.
Meanwhile, FC Nantes winger Simon Moses picked up a knock while on international duty with Nigeria, leading to surgery after suffering a fractured fibula.
“Moses Simon was injured yesterday against Mali. Our Nigerian striker suffers from a broken fibula which means the end of the season,” the club said in a statement.
“FC Nantes is already keen to provide its full support to its attacker and wishes him a speedy recovery!”
It was suggested that Awoniyi was rushed back to fitness to help Nuno Espirito Santo’s men avoid relegation. However, he didn’t seem fully fit, playing a total of just 17 minutes across three matches.
In a video shared on social media and spotted by Soccernet.ng, both Moses and Awoniyi were seen undergoing training to recover quickly ahead of next season.
Moses recently signed a deal in December 2023 that will keep him in Ligue 1 until 2026, indicating his key role in the Nantes squad for the upcoming season.
Awoniyi’s Forest also escaped relegation, and his full fitness has become crucial for the Tricky Trees, who will be relying on his goal-scoring skills in the coming English Premier League season.
