Nigeria’s Super Falcons and Juventus star Jennifer Echegini has been named the winner of the eBay MVP award for the best Under-23 player in the Women’s Serie A, Soccernet.ng reports.
Echegini joined Juventus in January after starting her career with Arsenal and playing briefly for two clubs in the United States.
Since arriving in Turin, she has quickly made an impact, scoring 10 goals and providing one assist in 16 appearances.
A statement on Monday announced her award, highlighting her quick adaptation and significant contributions to the team.
The statement read, “Jennifer Onyi Echegini has a decisive impact on the reality of Juventus Women.
“Having arrived in Turin last January directly from the United States, the midfielder born in 2001 took very little time to settle into the new reality, scoring 10 goals and 1 assist in 16 appearances.
“Numbers that have earned her, in just a few months, the title of eBay MVP as the best Under 23 in the women’s Serie A in the season just ended, evidenced by a dedicated commemorative plaque that will be delivered at the beginning of next season. Congratulations, Joe!”
Echegini, born in the Netherlands and raised in London, brings a multicultural background and international experience to her team.
She was part of the Nigeria women’s team that reached the Round of 16 in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
The award, which includes a commemorative plaque to be presented next season, celebrates Echegini’s skill, dedication, and impact in Serie A.
