Super Falcons star crowned best U-23 player in Women’s Serie A

Super Falcons of Nigeria have been slated to tackle Spain, South Korea, Brazil at the group stage of the Summer Olympics

Super Falcons and Juventus midfielder Jennifer Echegini has been named the Most Valuable U-23 star in the Women’s Serie A, Soccernet.ng reports.

Echegini, also known as “Magical Jennifer” or “Echeldinho,” scored 10 goals and provided one assist in 16 appearances for Juventus, despite joining the team from the Florida State Seminoles just five months ago.

Starting with her debut on January 13 in the home victory against Milan, she scored her first goal just eight days later, securing a win in the final match against Sassuolo. By mid-February, she achieved her first brace for Juventus in the Italian derby against Inter.

One of her standout performances was a hat-trick against Fiorentina in March, helping Juventus qualify for next season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League.

However, for these incredible achievements, Echegini will receive a special commemorative plaque at the beginning of next season.

Echegini’s football journey began at Arsenal, followed by brief stints with two clubs in the United States before she joined Juventus.

Despite being born in the Netherlands and raised in London, Echegini chose to represent Nigeria on the international stage.

Despite starting fewer than 10 matches, with most of her appearances coming as late substitutions, Echegini has proven to be an integral part of Coach Randy Waldrum’s midfield.

The Nigerian international is expected to make the squad for the Paris Olympics, where they will tackle Spain, South Korea, and Brazil in the group stage.
