“Osimhen is a nobody”- Rangers’ title-winning coach blasts Super Eagles star after snide remarks to Finidi George

Enugu Rangers’ title-winning coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has criticized Victor Osimhen following his snide remarks at Finidi George on social media, Soccernet.ng reports.

Reigning CAF Player of the Year Osimhen took to social media on Saturday to insult fans who accused him of a lack of commitment to the national team, following a report where Finidi allegedly said “I can’t beg Osimhen to play for Nigeria.”

The Napoli star also talked about Finidi in a rude manner openly questioning the capacity of the former Enyimba gaffer.

This development has caused a lot of controversy in Nigerian football, with some ex-internationals like Idah Peterside and Victor Anichebe calling for Osimhen’s head.

The latest to join Osimhen’s list of critics is Enugu Rangers coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, who just won the Nigeria Premier Football League. The former MFM boss believes Osimhen’s action was an act of disrespect and he should apologize to Finidi.

“Osimhen is a nobody to disrespect Finidi. As the African best player, one of our best players, he must learn to be patient and explain himself even when the world is against him,” Ilechukwu told Brila FM.

“He needs to apologize. He must, because an apology is a sign of humility. It is not always good to behave like he is beyond control. who is he?

“This is a player of yesterday, who started from under-17 just talking and ranting. As far as I’m concerned, NFF should take drastic action against that kind of attitude.”

Meanwhile, nothing has come from Osimhen’s camp yet, even after the report of Finidi’s statement was found out to be false.

  • It's disheartened to see this matter being blown out of proportion. Everyone is calling for the head of Osimhen without even looking into why the guy came out to defend himself of the accusations of his non-committal to the national team. Does it mean an elderly person cannot be wrong. You all calling for his head should understand that Finidi is wrong for calling out the player by name and one who caused his abysmal outing with the team. l do believe all of you are blowing this matter completely out of proportion. l still do believe that the player has absolute right to clear the air by telling what transpired between him and the coach before the matches. l will advise that people should tread carefully and cousciouslly because of serious damage being done to get national team as other players are closely watching your action.

    • you dey kolo ooh, it's gullibility that inflicted its venoms on you, would you make such an irresponsible statement or comment if Finidi George was your father, would you? Finidi George isn't Osimhen's mate in anything, these are player's that paved the way for these players like Osimhen of today, when Finidi George was playing international football " him Osimhen wasn't born, he came out to insult a man old enough to be his father all because of a mere write up by a journalist without any concrete prove like a recorded tape or a video with Finidi George saying such on it, him that know how journalist lies and manipulate what people said to gain reader's and popularity, even if there was a video or a recorded tape" he should have called Finidi George let alone when there was no prove that he said it, why didn't he insulted josé mourinho when he called him a diver? why didn't he insulted Napoli when their website made a mockery of him after a penalty lost, we devalues our own and worship the West, without God and Nigeria" Osimhen wouldn't had be where he's today, last time he insulted Victor Ikpeba, I do not blame your likes, you individuals thinks you are westerner's,

    • don't you understand simple English? it's been discovered,Finidi did not mention his name particularly nor accused Oshimen.

  • But how can Ranger's coach say Osimhen is a nobody?
Despite the fact that his outburst is condemn, Osimhen is a force to be recognised in world.
Because you managed to win the NPL, want to come out to show your face.

  • my people always remember that EPHESIANS 6: 1 has d same power as EPHESIANS 6: 4
So, dear people always treat people with caution be U father or son...... I rest my case

  • This my comment may sound ethnicity, but this VO's issue is heading towards that, first formal player to criticize VO is that boy Anichebe, and now F. Irechukwu, this my south east people self who do una this thing?, always u carry Matter wey no Concerns u, the same time creating unnecessary enemity to yourself, na waooo!, but when it's sharing the national cake other tribe will take the center stage

  • All these people attacking Osimhen are just doing that at of envy, what did Anichebe contributed to the eagles during his time?
The rangers coach is only seeking popularity and nothing else.

    • What has Osimhen achieved for Nigeria? Just a league with Napoli. Finidi, Kanu has won Champions league, won Olympics, Nations cup, played for better teams in Europe and are not begging for food. He needs to be humble. He jumped at Kvara Agent's comment, disrespected his team mates, insulted Ikpeba. He needs to be humble. He's career is almost getting done, and this negative attitude could even make it worst. I wasn't a fan of Finidi as a coach, but then, this guy should not disrespected, if you grew up in our days. One of the world most tactical No.7 in his days. A truly legend

  • Victor osimen should have tender an apology to finidi when he was told that the said story was a falsehood he allowed this avoidable negative perception of his personality which sadly was never a true reflection of his to persist due to his non refutal
