Official: Getafe sign Uche Chrisantus from AD Ceuta, third Nigerian player in club history

Spanish La Liga side Getafe CF has officially signed 21-year-old Super Eagles-eligible star Uche Chrisantus from AD Ceuta, Soccernet.ng reports.

Chrisantus signed a four-year deal with the Getafe-based club, keeping him at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez Stadium until June 30, 2028.

The club announced the signing of the Nigerian international, who has featured for the recent Olympic Eagles, on their social media pages:

“Getafe CF and AD Ceuta FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Chrisantus Uche. The 21-year-old Nigerian footballer has signed with the club until 30 June 2028 and will spend the next four seasons in the blue and white jersey,” the club announced on their official website.

Chrisantus, who has been with AD Ceuta since moving from Nigeria two years ago, was highly regarded in the Primera RFEF. He will join Getafe’s first team for preseason training, where he will compete for a spot in the squad.

Reflecting on his time at AD Ceuta, Chrisantus expressed deep gratitude, revealing that the club will forever be in his heart.

“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my coaches and colleagues for their unwavering support and guidance throughout my journey. I also want to thank the fans for their constant encouragement and love. It has been an incredible experience and I will cherish the memories forever. Farewell, my dear coaches, colleagues, and fans. forever ceuta.” he shared on Instagram.

Chrisantus’ journey has been remarkable, progressing from Nigeria’s U23 team to establishing himself in Spanish football.

His signing makes him the third Nigerian to join Getafe, following Peter Etebo’s move from Stoke City in 2020 and Ikechukwu Uche’s tenure from 2007 to 2009.
