“It will be difficult” – Former Super Eagles coach suspects Nigeria will struggle against South Africa without Osimhen

Samson Siasia returned to the Nigeria U-23 team in 2015 and led them to the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro where they claimed a bronze medal.

Former Super Eagles coach and striker, Samson Siasia has suggested that the Nigerian Football team might have it difficult against South Africa when both sides clash on Friday, Soccernet.ng reports.

The former Al-Hilal striker managed the Nigerian youth team twice before a brief stint with the senior team in 2016.

Nigeria have earned two points from their first two World Cup qualifying fixtures and are in need of all the points they can get when they play against South Africa and Benin Republic in the coming days.

The Super Eagles will be without key players like Victor Osimhen, Kenneth Omeruo and William Troost-Ekong during their upcoming qualifiers, and the 1994 AFCON winner revealed it might lead the team to some sort of imbalance.

“It will be difficult for the Super Eagles as they will be without a key player (Osimhen), and while South Africa will be coming with the same coach and players, we have a new coach,” Siasia said in quotes revealed by SCORENigeria.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface is widely tipped to step in to replace the 2023 CAF Player of The Year, while the addition of Samuel Chukwueze and Ademola Lookman is a boost for Finidi George.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will lock horns against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, with kick-off time slated for 8 pm.

The Super Eagles will travel to Ivory Coast three days later to play against Gernot Rohr’s Benin Republic.
