“It means a lot” – Lazio target proud to represent Super Eagles

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are slated to tackle the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Friday for the continuation of their 2026 World Cup qualifiers

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, a one-capped Super Eagles star, has expressed his joy in playing for the Nigerian national senior men’s team, Soccernet.ng reports.

Dele-Bashiru made a significant move to Hatayspor last summer, opting not to extend his contract with Sheffield Wednesday.

His transition to the Turkish club was marked by a remarkable start, as he played a pivotal role in seven goals during his first eight league matches.

Following his standout performances, Dele-Bashiru received his maiden call-up to Nigeria’s senior national team for friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique in October, under the guidance of Jose Peseiro.

Meanwhile, the German-born Nigerian midfielder, who is a target for Lazio and Saudi Clubs has shared his happiness at making his family proud by representing his parents’ home country.

“It means everything to me, from my family, my parents, it means a lot. I am always happy to make my brother, mom, dad, cousins, uncles, and everyone proud. Nigeria is a country of over 200 million population so it’s not an easy thing to play for the national team, I’m always proud to play for them,” he said.

The Nigerian Eagles are set to face the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers on Friday, and Dele-Bashiru will be aiming to make a significant impact for Finidi George’s troops.
