“I’ll give my all” – KRC Genk’s Arokodare eyes Super Eagles call-up

In eleven games for F.C. Koln in the German Bundesliga, he was unable to find the back of the net before returning to Valmeria in Austria.

Nigerian and KRC Genk striker, Toluwalase Emmanuel Arokodare, has revealed his aspirations to don the green and white jersey of the Super Eagles, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 23-year-old lanky forward has racked up 60 career goals and 13 assists in 171 games as a professional footballer, but he’s yet to play for Nigeria.

Arokodare is well-travelled in his short career in Europe. He joined the Austrian side, Valmeria, from Box2Box FC in Nigeria. After a year, he joined F.C. Koln in the German Bundesliga on a six-month loan, failing to find the back of the net in eleven games.

He joined French Ligue side, Amiens in 2021, scoring 21 goals and providing four assists in 63 games for the Unicorns. He joined Genk in January 2023 and narrowly missed out on the Jupiler Pro League title in the just-concluded season.

Speaking in an interview with Brila, the 1.97-metre-tall star revealed the Super Eagles stars he watched while growing up, highlighting that he’d love to follow in their footsteps.

“Jay Jay Okocha and Kanu made me love the Super Eagles. I’m not just speaking for myself, but I’m sure when you get a call-up, you’d go there to fight. If I do get a call-up, I’ll give my all, I’ll die there.”

Speaking about his future in Belgium, Arokodare maintained that he’s still under contract with Genk and he has to honour it.

“I’m still a Genk Player and I’m focused on that,” the former Koln striker concluded.

Arokodare joined Genk in the winter transfer window of 2023, and his contract with De Smurfen runs till the summer of 2027.
