“I don’t want to grow overweight like some of my ex-teammates”- Osaze Odemwingie reveals step after graduating from golf school

Osaze just acquired a golf certificate, but he still has eyes on football

Former Super Eagles striker Osaze Odemwingie has revealed that he has plans to venture into football coaching, but he wants to focus on his family first, Soccernet.ng reports.

Odemwingie retired from active football in 2018, but he has been quite active off the scene, albeit silent. Interestingly, unlike other retired Super Eagles players, the former West Bromwich Albion striker picked an interest in golfing, as was captured on camera playing the sport a few times.

Then recently, a video of him on his graduation from golf school emerged. The 42-year-old talked about his love for golf, and how the sport aided his development over the years.

In a new development, Osaze has now revealed that despite his love for golf, he still loves football and could go into management in future.

“Golf is competitive, got loads of high prize money as well. There is motivation as a sportsman, but it also allows me to put pressure on myself to remain fit, not to get overweight like some of my ex-teammates that I see,” Osaze told Channels TV.

“At the same time, this was preparation for me for the next chapter of my life, which could be football coaching.

“But I’m sure that the sports science, the nutrition, and other things that I’ve learned will help me in my football coaching career at some point. But I prioritize my children for now. I want to look after them until they are older, then I can go for my coaching badges”

Osaze was born to Russian and Nigerian parents, but he snubbed Russia to play for the Super Eagles. He registered eleven goals in 62 appearances from 2002 to 2014.
