“Fit perfectly” – France legend wants Arsenal to sign Nigeria star with 114 career goals

Former Arsenal and France midfielder Emmanuel Petit believes Napoli’s Victor Osimhen would be ideal for Arsenal’s attack as they aim to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title next season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Arsenal are looking for a new striker after finishing second in the title race for two consecutive seasons.

Osimhen is a key target for the Gunners this summer, but his high transfer fee could be a stumbling block. Napoli are only willing to sell if Osimhen’s release clause, around €130 million, is met. Both Arsenal and Chelsea are hesitant to pay this amount, making a transfer difficult.

However, Petit insists that signing Osimhen would significantly strengthen Arsenal’s attacking options.

Speaking to talkSPORT as per Complete Sports, the World Cup winner said, “I would love to see a player like Osimhen as a striker. Someone who can hold defenders, think differently in attacking spaces, and be a big threat on set pieces. He has a physical presence and understands the game well.”

“I’ve been watching him since his time at Lille before he moved to Napoli. He would fit perfectly at Arsenal. I don’t know if Arsenal will buy him, but a striker is their top priority.”

Despite injuries and international duties, Osimhen scored 17 goals and provided four assists in 32 games for Napoli last season. The year before, he netted 31 goals in 39 games, helping Napoli win the Serie A title.

The 25-year-old has consistently scored throughout his career, with 114 goals and 28 assists in 223 games, playing for Sporting Charleroi, Lille, and Napoli.
