Super Falcons midfielder, Antionette Oyedupe Payne, is set to join Women’s Super League side, Everton, after her contract with Sevilla expired, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 29-year-old, who can feature as a midfielder and a striker, ended her six-year stay in Spain after her contract with Sevilla expired, while Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke joined up with the club’s men’s side.
Payne, alongside Spain midfielder, Inma Gabarro, will be free agents from the start of next month after spending the last five years as teammates at club level.
According to The Guardian, WSL Club – Everton Women, are on the verge of signing the former Sevilla duo as they look to reinforce their team ahead of the 2024/2025 season.
Everton forward, Toni Duggan will leave the club when her contract expires at the end of the month, freeing space on the club’s roaster to welcome Payne and Gabarrow.
The Women’s Super League transfer window opens officially today and will shut down on the 13th of September, allowing Everton more than enough time to complete the deal before the new season kicks off on the 22nd of September.
