Chidera Ejuke reveals Belgian player who influenced his decision to join Sevilla

Super Eagles forward Chidera Ejuke has revealed that speaking to Belgium international Dodi Lukebakio was part of what aided his decision to join Spanish club Sevilla, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ejuke has been on the move in the last two seasons, playing for Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin, before moving to Belgian side Antwerp last season.

This summer, the 26-year-old got the biggest move of his career- to former Europa League champions Sevilla on a three-year deal. It will be Ejuke’s second time playing in one of the top five leagues. And it makes him the first Super Eagles player to play for the club.

Following the transfer, the former CSKA Moscow talisman has revealed that his former Hertha Berlin teammate, Lukebakio, who is now at Sevilla gave a good recommendation of the club.

“I want to start playing and be able to go out on the field,” Ejuke said at his unveiling.

“I spoke with Dodi because he is someone I already knew and I am very excited for being part of this . We have talked and I am looking forward to experiencing everything he told me in first person.”

Ejuke is not a stranger to changing environment, as he has played in Russia, Norway, Netherland, Germany, and Belgium. He will have enough time this summer to adjust to life in Spain ahead of the pre-season games which start next month.
