Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has chosen Davido over Burna Boy as his favourite Nigerian artist, Soccernet.ng reports.
In an interview with Oma Sports TV, the Udinese shot-stopper explained that while Burna Boy is an excellent musician, he prefers Davido’s music.
Okoye mentioned that Davido’s songs suit his personality more, describing them as playful and fun.
“Burna Boy or Davido? Davido. Musically, Burna Boy is on another level, 100 percent. He’s a top artist but I prefer Davido. I listen more to Davido than Burna Boy,” Okoye said.
“There are Burna Boy’s songs that I love, but there is more of Davido on my playlist. Davido’s songs fit my personality; they are very playful. I really like Davido.”
Okoye has had an impressive season in Italy, moving from reserve goalkeeper to becoming Udinese’s number one.
The 24-year-old made 21 appearances in Serie A, playing a key role in helping the club avoid relegation on the final day of the season.
As Nigeria’s most highly-rated goalkeeper and the only one playing regularly in one of Europe’s top five leagues, Okoye recently returned to the Super Eagles after missing the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
Despite his success, he remains the second-choice goalkeeper for Nigeria, behind Chippa United’s Stanley Nwabali, who played in the recent World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin.
