AFCON 2023 or Euro 2024: Super Falcons’ Babajide Rinsola picks favourite

Babajide Rinsola who is eligible to play for both England and Nigeria made her debut for the Super Falcons in 2023

Super Falcons forward Babajide Rinsola has shared her preference between the ongoing 2024 UEFA Euro tournament and the recently held 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, Soccernet.ng reports.

Following the conclusion of the 2023-24 European club season, fans have turned their attention to Germany, where the 2024 Euro is being held.

The former Liverpool forward, who previously played for England’s youth teams—U-21, U-20, U-19—has also been following the tournament.

On her X (formerly Twitter) page, the Nigerian international  compared the ongoing Euro tournament with the 34th edition of the AFCON tournament and made her choice.

According to her tweet, the English-Nigerian forward prefers AFCON—where Nigeria, the country she now represents, made it to the finals—over the Euro tournament.

Rinsola, who joined UDG Tenerife from Real Betis, received a call-up to represent Nigeria in October 2023 and started for the Super Falcons in the 2024 Olympic qualifiers against Ethiopia.

Despite her commitment to representing Nigeria, the 26-year-old forward has not hidden her support for the Three Lions of England at the Euro 2024 tournament.

Meanwhile, Gareth Southgate’s troops advanced from the group stage with five points as the table-toppers of Group C, securing one victory and two draws despite their dismal group stage run.
