Veteran Super Eagles forward, Ahmed Musa has backed the Nigerian Football team to claim six points in their upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying games, Soccernet.ng reports.
Musa was rated among the Hot 100 young football stars in the world to watch in 2011 and has gone on to make a name for himself in a Super Eagles jersey, scoring in two World Cups, and lifting the 2013 AFCON trophy.
The former Leicester City man was a member of Jose Peseiro’s 25-man squad that got to the final of the AFCON 2023 tournament before they caved to the pressure, falling to a defeat in Ivory Coast.
The 31-year-old is currently without a club and wasn’t included in Finidi George’s 23-man squad list for Nigeria’s upcoming World Cup qualifying games against South Africa and Benin Republic.
Musa is the most-capped Nigerian player ever. Speaking ahead of the qualifiers, the former VVV Venlo winger played up the importance of the fixtures, urging the Super Eagles to win both games.
“Everyone knows the importance of both games, the players understand what’s at stake and I will want them to go all out and win both games, I am upbeat they will do this,” the former Kano Pillars winger told Score Nigeria.
The Super Eagles will take on the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on June 7th in Uyo, before travelling to Ivory Coast to face Benin Republic three days later.
