The NPFL Matchday 33 delivered as the race for the 2023/2024 league title heats up. Soccernet.ng brings a detailed report of the action across the local Nigerian league.

Enyimba International took another step towards their title defence after securing three points against Abia Warriors. Bernard Ovoke’s goal in the 72nd minute ushered in the Yemi Olarewanju era with a win.

Enugu Rangers went four points clear at the top of the league by defeating Bayelsa United by three goals. Godwin Obaje scored a brace before Chiedozie Okorie wrapped the game up with the third goal.

Heartland returned to winning ways against Gombe United. Promise Anyanwu scored a brace before Chukwudi Esobe scored the game’s third.

NPFL Legend, Rabiu Ali, scored a brace as Kano Pillars trashed Doma United. Ibrahim Inuwa scored Pillars’ third before Musa Usman pulled one back for Doma United.

Katsina United played a 2-2 draw against Shooting Stars. Moses Effiong opened the scoring for Katsina United before Shooting turned the game on its head. Daddy Abdulrahman and Adam Mustapha scored for Shooting before Michael Okoro Ibe scored a last-minute goal to seal a point for Katsina United.

Remo Stars travelled to Kwara to take on Kwara United, but fell short, with the home side winning 3-2. Goals from Wasiu Alalade, Ejeh Isaiah and Ahmed Akinyele’s own goal put United three up before Franck Makwuena and David Ojo scored to console the Ikenne faithful.

Lobi stars lost to Akwa United. Sani Suleiman scored a brace for Akwa United before Abubakar Ibrahim Aliyu pulled one back for Lobi. Lobi Stars are now on a four-game winless run.

Sunshine Stars played the only goalless draw of matchday against Bendel Insurance.
