Nigerian star Osayi-Samuel picks up injury amid hot title race in Turkey

Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel will be unavailable for selection for Fenerbahce when they play Kayserispor on Sunday because of a slight injury, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osayi-Samuel has been an important player for Fenerbahce this season. The Nigerian defender has registered three goals and one assist in 20 appearances for the Turkish giants in the Super Lig.

It has been a big season for Fenerbahce, as they are looking to usurp Galatasaray as the champions of the Super Lig. Unfortunately, it looks bleak at the moment, as Fenerbahce sit six points behind Galatasaray, with three games left.

Going into their next game against Kayserispor on Sunday, Fenerbahce are condemned to win if they want to keep their dreams of winning the Super Lig title alive.

However, they would have to do it without Osayi-Samuel, as according to TRTSpor, the 26-year-old full-back sustained an injury in their 1-1 draw against Konyaspor last time out.

Nonetheless, Osayi-Samuel would likely return to action by the penultimate game of the campaign, when they play Galatasaray at Rams Park. It promises to be an interesting game, as a win for Fenerbahce could potentially take the title race into the final game week.

Fenerbahce will play their final game of the season against last-place Istanbulspor on May 26.
