Newly-crowned Greece Super League champions PAOK Thessaloniki are considering making a move for Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho, Soccernet.ng reports.
Iheanacho made 23 appearances for Leicester City in the Championship this season, contributing five goals and an assist as the Foxes gained promotion to the Premier League.
However, the majority of Iheanacho’s league appearances came in the first half of the campaign, with the Super Eagles striker offered only four cameo showings after he returned from the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
Having joined Leicester City from Manchester City in 2017, Iheanacho’s contract with the Foxes expires on June 30 and he would be able to leave as a free agent.
That has made the 27-year-old forward attractive for prospective suitors and he is reportedly wanted by some Turkish and Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa.
However, reports from Greece indicate that PAOK Thessaloniki are also interested in Iheanacho and are monitoring his situation.
PAOK won the Greek Super League title this season but will want to have a crack in Europe next season after watching rivals Olympiakos win the Europa Conference League this week. That was the first time any Greek club would win a continental club competition.
It is believed that Iheanacho wants to remain in England and take another shot at the Premier League, where he has shown he can be a consistent goal threat.
The former Golden Eaglets forward has a respectable 42 goals and 25 assists in 196 games in the English top flight.
Iheanacho is also one of the finest goal scorers in the history of the FA Cup with 18 goals and three assists in only 25 appearances. He won the prestigious competition with Leicester in 2021.
