Dominican Republic 2024: Nigeria’s Flamingos receive huge boost as Burkina Faso are booted to Mali

In a major twist to the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifying clash, Nigeria’s U17 girls are set to face off against their Burkinabe counterparts on neutral turf, Soccernet.ng reports.

FIFA’s stern stance on venue standards has pushed Burkina Faso to relocate their home ground showdown with Nigeria, banishing them from their native Ouagadougou.

Instead, the high-stakes match is slated to unfold in the Malian capital, Bamako, igniting anticipation for a fierce battle on Saturday, 11th May, kickstarting at 4 pm Mali time.

The Flamingos, unfazed by the change in terrain, are geared up for the encounter, eyeing victory as they prepare to lock horns in Bamako before returning home for the return leg at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

The Nigerian U17 national women’s team will look to edge the tie when they trade tackles with the Burkinabes in the second leg of the encounter slated for Saturday, 18th May, with kickoff set for 4:30 pm Nigeria time.

Adding to the spectacle, a distinguished panel of match officials has been appointed by the Confederation of African Football.

Suavis Iratunga from Burundi will lead the charge as the referee, supported by a team of seasoned assistants and officials, ensuring fair play and integrity throughout the game.

Nigeria’s Flamingos will depart for Bamako from Abuja on Wednesday, 8th May.
