AC Milan forward, Samuel Chukwueze, has celebrated his first Serie A goal for Stefano Pioli’s men at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi, as reported by Soccernet.ng.
Chukwueze secured the victory for AC Milan away from home with a volley, ending his goal drought and potentially leading to a return to form for his club.
The Nigerian international joined the Rossoneri in the 2023 summer transfer window, but has fallen short of expectations, having recorded no goals for the club since his move.
Chukwueze has, however, faced criticism in Italy, with his transfer being deemed a waste of money due to his limited impact compared to his time at Villarreal CF.
Speaking after the 3-1 victory against Verona, Chukwueze told DAZN that his struggle for good performance hasn’t been easy and he believes his confidence will grow further.
“It hasn’t been easy. Whoever is playing in my position is doing great and scoring a lot. The coach can’t bench him. I continue to work hard, and it doesn’t matter if I play little. Today’s goal is very important for my confidence. I must continue to stay focused and centered on the future,” he said, as quoted by Milan Post.
The Super Eagles star has not been named in the squad to face Ghana and Mali later this month, but he will be looking forward to making an impression with his performance at his club.
