The barber behind the stars: Meet the man who kept Iwobi, Iheanacho and others sharp at AFCON 2023

In the world of professional football, every detail matters – from the precision of a striker’s shot to the style of a midfielder’s haircut, Soccernet.ng reports.

Behind the scenes, there’s an unsung hero that ensures players look as sharp off the field as they do on it: the barber.

Meet Nnamdi, the master stylist who flew from London to Abidjan to ensure that the Super Eagles stars looked fresh throughout the AFCON 2023 tournament.

In an exclusive interview with BBC Africa, Nnamdi sheds light on how he became the go-to hair guru for some of the top Nigerian footballers.

Watch the video here:

Based in London, England, Nnamdi has carved out a niche for himself as the premier barber for footballers seeking that perfect trim.

His rise to prominence within the Nigerian football community began with his first Super Eagles client, Alex Iwobi. Serving as Iwobi’s trusted barber in London, Nnamdi recognized the AFCON tournament as an invaluable opportunity to expand his network.

With an eye for opportunity and a knack for staying ahead of the latest trends, Nnamdi quickly became the stylist of choice for a host of Super Eagles stars, including Ademola Lookman, Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Before every game, he ensured that these players stepped onto the pitch with confidence, thanks to their impeccable haircuts.

Nnamdi’s trip to Abidjan proved to be a success, as he not only cemented his reputation as the go-to barber for the Super Eagles but has also continued to serve these football stars back in the countries they play.
