Nottingham Forest boss provides fitness updates on Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina ahead of Liverpool clash

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo has provided updates on the fitness of two Super Eagles players, Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi, ahead of the team’s Premier League encounter with Liverpool, Soccernet.ng reports.

Super Eagles defender, Aina, has been sidelined for the last three matches due to an injury sustained after returning from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Wolverhampton boss confirmed that while Ibrahim Sangaré and Willy Boly are progressing well in their recoveries, Aina is facing more significant issues.

Nuno expressed uncertainty about the availability of certain players for Saturday’s match, mentioning that Aina and Nuno Tavares are encountering more serious problems, while Boly is in the final days of his recovery.

“Not sure. Let’s see tomorrow, some players are in the final part of their recovery. Ibrahim [Sangaré] is close,

“Chris Wood is also closer. Ola [Aina] and Nuno [Tavares] are facing more problems. Boly is in the final days of his recovery.” said Nuno.

However, there is some positive news regarding Awoniyi, who managed to complete the full duration of the previous match against Manchester United.

Forest boss, speaking further, highlighted rhe progress of the Nigerian international, indicating that the striker is advancing well in terms of fitness.

He added: “He played a crucial role in the previous game, not just for 45 minutes, but he managed to finish the entire game today.

“I believe he’s progressing in terms of fitness. He had been out for a considerable period, so his recovery for the next match will be vital.”

The updates on Aina and Awoniyi’s fitness will be crucial as the team strives to secure valuable points in their battle against relegation aiming for all three points when the host Liverpool this weekend.
