Michael Kayode: Inter Milan to intensify the pursuit of Nigeria-eligible full-back

Michael Kayode came off the bench last night as Fiorentina lost to AC Milan at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in Firenze, Italy.

Italian league leaders Inter Milan are in hot pursuit of Italy, and Fiorentina full-back Michael Kayode as Denzel Dumfries is set to leave the club next summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 19-year-old full-back has been a revelation in the Serie A this season, scoring a goal and assisting two in 20 league games for Fiorentina.

The Nerazzuri have tried to tie Dutch wing-back, Denzel Dumfries, to a new deal as his contract expires in 2025, but the former Ajax man isn’t budging, hinting that he’ll depart the club in 2025.

Soccernet.ng earlier reported that Inter were linked with Kayode, but as per La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 19-time Serie A winners are now desperate to seal a move for the Nigeria-eligible full-back as he’s being monitored by Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Described as young, with ample room for improvement, the former Juventus academy player has the backing of the Inter hierarchy and is also promised time to grow.

With his future with a national leaning towards playing for Italy, Inter believes if Kayode picks Nigeria, it’ll be an added advantage to them, as they’ll be able to extend their branding to West Africa, raking in a huge number of fans alongside.

The negotiation with Fiorentina will be no easy deal as Kayode’s current deal runs through 2028. This means the La Viola board will command a huge fee for the services of the 19-year-old.
