Finidi George eyes back-to-back wins as Super Eagles face Mali in Marrakech

Former Ajax forward, Finidi George, is determined to lead the Nigerian national team to consecutive victories as they prepare to face Mali in Marrakech on Tuesday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Following their impressive 2-1 win over arch-rivals Ghana, the Super Eagles are poised for another challenging encounter against the Eagles of Mali.

Despite facing setbacks due to injuries, including the absence of key players like Victor Osimhen, William Troost-Ekong, and Ola Aina, George’s troops overcame the Black Stars, and remain optimistic about his team’s chances against Mali.

Defender Calvin Bassey and midfielder Frank Onyeka will also miss the match due to injury, presenting additional challenges for the squad.

However, George emphasised the importance of maintaining a winning mentality and momentum ahead of the clash with Mali.

“We cannot at this time be dwelling on the injuries and absences that we have to cope with. Our intention has always been to win these two matches and then look forward to the World Cup qualifiers in June. We are determined to keep up the momentum and sustain the winning mentality derived from beating the Black Stars,” Goerge told nff.com.

With the Super Eagles aiming to build upon their recent success and continue their winning streak, George is focused on securing positive results to propel the team forward.

The match against Mali is also an opportunity for Nigeria to further solidify their position in the FIFA ranking, and prepare for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in June.
