Coach Finidi remains confident despite absences of Awoniyi, Osimhen, others

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will be without players like Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, Gabriel Osho, and Tyronne Ebuehi due to injury

Super Eagles interim coach George Finidi maintains confidence in his current squad despite the absence of key strikers like Taiwo Awoniyi and Victor Osimhen ahead of clashes with Ghana and Mali, as reported by Soccernet.ng.

The long-standing rivalry between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Black Stars of Ghana will reignite in Marrakech, Morocco on Friday, March 22nd, followed by a match against the Eagles of Mali.

However, the 52-year-old coach will face the upcoming international friendly clashes without key players such as Osimhen, Awoniyi, Gabriel Osho, and Tyronne Ebuehi, who could potentially deliver desired results.

Osimhen was blocked from joining the squad by his club due to ongoing recovery efforts from a fitness issue, with hopes for a swift return before the season’s end.

Meanwhile, Osho’s debut aspirations with the three-time African champions were dashed after suffering a knee injury during Luton’s recent match.

Despite these setbacks, Coach Finidi expressed confidence in his squad’s ability to represent the country proudly.

“We will be missing four players who have pulled out due to injury, but I have confidence in the team that we have here that they will wear the green-white-green with pride and with patriotic fervor,” as reported by NFF.com.

The Nigerian team is set to kick off their clash at the Marrakech Stadium on Friday at 2:00 pm Nigerian time.
