“You’re the worst Nation”- Wilfred Ndidi’s Leicester City teammate bants Super Eagles after AFCON semi-final triumph over South Africa

The Super Eagles have reached the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, but Ndidi’s teammate has not been entirely impressed

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi shared a video of him and his Leicester City teammate Stephy Mavididi bantering each other following Nigeria’s win against South Africa in the semi-final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nigeria had to dig deep to defeat rivals South Africa in the semi-final of the AFCON on Wednesday. It was a thrilling encounter between both teams. After a goalless first half, William Troost-Ekong scored from the spot after Victor Osimhen won a penalty.

Then, in the 88th minute, Osimhen scored to make it two for the three-time African champions. However, in a twist of fate, the goal was cancelled after a VAR review because of a foul in Nigeria’s box. And the Bafana Bafana were awarded a penalty. Teboho Mokoena made no mistake, as he dispatched, sending Stanley Nwabali the wrong way.

The game eventually dragged into extra-time and penalties, which Nigeria won 4-2 after Nwabali saved two shots.

Nigeria midfielder Ndidi, who was ruled out of the AFCON because of an injury, was quite elated with the victory as he shared videos of himself rejoicing on social media. And in Leicester City’s training facility, he shared a video of himself bantering his teammate Stephy Mavididi, who is originally from DR Congo but plays for England.

Mavididi funnily said that the Super Eagles are embarrassing because of their poor dance moves. But Ndidi replied, telling Mavididi that his country, DR Congo, who were better dancers, danced their way to the third-place match instead of the final.

Nigeria will take on hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the AFCON on Sunday, while South Africa will play DR Congo in the third-place match.
