Serie A: Former Napoli striker lauds Inter new boy Akinsanmiro

Inter Milan have won twenty-one games in the Italian Serie A this season, losing just one and are eleven points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand.

Former Napoli and Italy striker, Oscar Damiani has heaped praise on Inter Milan’s newest debutant, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Soccernet.ng reports.

Akinsanmiro, 19, joined the Nerazzurri from Nigeria Professional Football League side, Remo Stars, and made his debut for the club two days ago in Inter’s 4-0 league win over Lecce.

Damiani, 73, featured for a host of Italian clubs in his playing days, including Juventus, A.C. Milan, Lazio, Parma and Genoa, and is also the agent of former Borussia Dortmund striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The retired Italian winger played a vital role in facilitating Ebenezer’s move to the 36-time Italian Champions, and he revealed that he warded a lot of clubs away from the Nigerian youngster just to make sure he signed for Inter Milan.

” A lot of teams wanted him including Real Madrid. Inter are working well with the youngsters, they were good at developing them and so the guy chose Inter,” Damiani told FC Inter News.

He was also filled with praise for the 2004-born attacking midfielder who has been playing in the Primavera 1 league for Inter this season, scoring five goals and creating another two.

“He’s an interesting guy, very smart, very good, I knew him immediately at the Viareggio tournament. Inter were very quick at taking him, it was not easy, even for the status of non-EU. Congratulations to the Nerazzurri who have signed him and the boy who is working well. Then when you train with the senior team, you can only grow. He is a great prospect,” the former New York Cosmos player added.

Akinsanmiro’s former academy, Beyond Limits, won the final of the 2024 Viareggio Cup yesterday, making history in the process by becoming the first African and Nigerian team to achieve the feat.
