Taiwo Awoniyi picked up a knock that kept him out of 12 games for Nottingham Forest, and Super Eagles AFCON 2023 campaign

Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi showcased a unique goal celebration during Nottingham Forest’s victory against West Ham United, as reported by Soccernet.ng.

Awoniyi, known for his Christian faith, removed his shirt to reveal a Bible verse boldly written on it, further emphasizing his spiritual beliefs.

Following Nottingham Forest’s successful campaign to avoid relegation from the English Football League, Awoniyi was seen delivering a testimony at a church, expressing gratitude to God for his team’s achievement.

In a previous interview with Soccernet.ng, the Super Eagles attacker admitted his shyness but revealed that his wife encouraged him to share his testimony in front of the congregation as a way of thanking God for their success.

During the match against West Ham at the City Ground Stadium, Awoniyi scored in the closing minutes of the first half, capitalizing on a pass from Nicolas Dominguez to beat Alphonso Areola.

His jubilant celebration included removing his shirt to reveal a Bible verse from Ecclesiastes 12:13, encouraging believers not to doubt God.

It reads: “Kilen F’olorun pe. In all darkness time, you became the light, Yeshua is lifted high”

The Reds will face Villa Park in their next fixture, aiming to distance themselves further from the relegation zone, with Awoniyi eager to maintain his impressive form.
