“Let’s bring that trophy home”- Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi sends cute message to Super Eagles ahead of AFCON final against Cote d’Ivoire

Wilfred Ndidi made the initial Super Eagles squad, but he was ruled out of the AFCON because of an injury

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has sent a cute message to his Super Eagles teammates ahead of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final clash against Nigeria on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Eagles will be gunning for a fourth AFCON crown at the Stade Alassane Ouattara on Sunday. They will have to undergo a stern test from hosts Cote d’Ivoire, who have many things going for them.

Nigerian midfield stalwart Ndidi would have been one of the top players to grace the final, as he made the final 25-man squad for the AFCON, but he was ruled out because of an injury. Nonetheless, Antwerp star Alhassan Yusuf was called up to replace him, and he has been decent.

Meanwhile, ahead of the final on Sunday, Ndidi has sent an inspiring message to his teammates, wishing them good luck in the final.

“Though I can’t be on the pitch with my brothers, my heart is with them as they play in the AFCON final tonight”, Ndidi wrote.

“Sending all my support and best wishes. Let’s bring that trophy home! Good luck!”

The Elephants have the home advantage and the mentality as they have had to fight hard to reach the final. But Nigeria has improved with each game, albeit there are concerns about fatigue. Still, it promises to be a very good final.
