“IwoBass”- Super Eagles legend congratulates Nigerian duo on helping Fulham down Manchester United

The Super Eagles stars were unsung for Fulham in their victory over Manchester United on Sunday, and they have received plaudits for their performance

Super Eagles legend Sunday Oliseh has congratulated Nigerian duo Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi after they both scored for Fulham in their 2-1 win over Manchester United on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Fulham travelled to Old Trafford to take on a  Manchester United side that had won their last five games. The Red Devils were the favourites to get the win, but Fulham had other plans.

After a goalless first half, Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey got on the scoresheet in the 65th minute, but Harry Maguire drew level for Manchester United in the 89th minute.

The Red Devils pushed hard for the winner at the end of the game, but they didn’t get it. Instead, it was Iwobi who turned up two minutes before time to steal a big win for the Cottagers.

Following their exploits, Bassey and Iwobi have gotten a lot of plaudits, and the latest to send them a message is former Super Eagles midfielder Oliseh.

“Extremely pleased for these two guys. Congrats, IwoBass,” Oliseh shared on his X page.

Iwobi was badly maligned after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final loss to Cote d’Ivoire, but he seems to have returned to his best. As the season nears home stretch, they would look to end the campaign on a high.
