‘Probably, it will be a long time’–Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca gives Ndidi’s injury update

Ndidi will miss the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria, and he will be out for a prolonged period

Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca has revealed that Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has been ruled out of action for Leicester City after sustaining an injury, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ndidi has been a consistent performer for Leicester City this season. He has made 21 appearances in the Championship, with two goals and five assists to show.

The 27-year-old midfielder was named in Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations initially. Unfortunately, he was ruled out due to an injury.

Leicester City play Millwall in the FA Cup on Saturday. And ahead of the game, Foxes boss Maresca has given an update on Ndidi’s injury.

The Italian tactician has revealed that Ndidi sustained a muscle injury, and he will be out for three months.

“Probably for Wilf, it will be a long time,” Maresca said per Leicester City’s website.

“It could be three months. It looks like a muscular problem, but an important one, so we will see in the next hours but the situation for Wilf is probably the clearest one.”

Ndidi has struggled with injuries for the last two seasons, and he just returned to his best this season. The injury is major setback for him and a big blow for his career, as he missed the opportunity to play at the AFCON.
