The Super Eagles failed to win the maximum points in their first game, but they will be looking to do better against Ivory Coast
Nigeria will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing opening day draw against Equatorial Guinea at Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara on Sunday.
It was a game that the Super Eagles could have easily won, but their profligacy cost them in the end, as they eventually had to settle for a point against as side that is 46 places below them in the FIFA rankings.
However, they have a tougher tie today, as they square off against AFCON hosts Ivory Coast in their National Stadium- their traditional turf. Unlike Nigeria, the Elephants had a far better start to the AFCON, as they defeated Guinea-Bissau 2-0 on opening day.
Both countries have a lot of star players, and it is expected to be a spectacle today. The last time both teams met at the AFCON, it was Nigeria who emerged victorious and went on to win it. But since 2013, Nigeria have not been able to defeat Ivory Coast.
