“I haven’t been given any appointment by the NFF”- Ex-Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama

There were talks that the NFF had employed Enyeama, but the former Lille shot-stopper has rubbished such talks

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has cleared the air following rumours of his appointment as a backroom staff ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast next January, Soccernet.ng reports.

Last week, Enyeama made a post on social media ahead of Nigeria’s campaign in the AFCON. “Let’s gooooo. See you in camp. Time for business,” the former Lille man wrote.

This post sparked different reactions, as it seemed like he had been appointed as a backroom staff for the Super Eagles ahead of the 2023 AFCON. The lack of a top national team goalkeeper also fueled the speculations, as it was believed that the 41-year-old would be a goalkeeper trainer.

However, Enyeama has now cleared the air, stating that he has not been appointed by the NFF.

“I haven’t been given any appointment by the NFF, neither was there any such discussion. That was only a personal comment, meaning I will visit them in camp when I attend the AFCON.

“Any opportunity to encourage the lads, I use it,” Enyeama said per G.O.A.T.

Nigeria begin their 2023 AFCON campaign on January 14 with a game against Equatorial Guinea. Then they play Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau days later.
