Gift Orban: Olympique Lyon complete N12.9bn deal for exciting Nigeria and Gent youngster

One of the most talented young strikers outside of the main European leagues as made the jump to Ligue 1

Nigerian forward Gift Orban has fulfilled his dream of moving to one of the five biggest league in Europe after he sealed a deal to join French side, Olympique Lyon, Soccernet.ng reports.

Lyon earlier secured an agreement with Jupiler Pro League giants KAA Gent to secure the permanent transfer of Orban this transfer window.

Orban, on Wednesday (today), flew from Belgium to France to finalise the details of the deal that is expected to keep him with Lyon until the end of the 2027/2028 season.

According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Olympique Lyon have completed the deal for the Nigerian youngster, with the Ligue 1 side set to part with €13m (N15 billion) to make it happen.

About this time last year, Orban was preparing to join Gent from Stabaek after impressing in Norway.

He officially became a Gent player in the final hours of the transfer window and wasted little time settling down in his new home.

Orban went on to enjoy an excellent goalscoring for Gent in the Belgian first division and the European circuit, so much so that Tottenham and Barcelona were among the clubs who showed interest in his services in the summer.

Gent, however, managed to keep Orban in Belgium for another few months and have now found a club willing to match their financial demands for the striker.
