AFCON 2023: “Money is the last discussion”- Super Eagles boss Jose Peseiro unfazed by owed wages

There have been talks that Jose Peseiro is being owed his salary, but the Portuguese tactician is unbothered by such talks

Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has stated that he is only interested in helping the team improve despite talks that he is being owed salaries, Soccernet.ng reports.

Peseiro took over the Super Eagles coaching job two years ago following the dismissal of Augustine Eguavoen. The Portuguese tactician moved to Nigeria after a poor stint in Venezuela that saw him lose six of his ten games in charge. There were a lot of controversies following his exit, as he was owed salaries before his exit.

Unfortunately for Peseiro, his woes have not ended, as there have been reports that he is being owed his salaries by the NFF, who are notorious for owing. Nonetheless, Peseiro has never categorically confirmed it.

Meanwhile, the Portuguese coach is currently in Ivory Coast with the Super Eagles ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations. They play their first game of the competition against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, and ahead of the fixture, the former Braga coach has iterated that he is not bothered about money.

“Money and bonuses should be the last discussion, we need good results first. We all need money, but money is the last discussion, I don’t discuss my salary and bonuses with the media,” Peseiro said.

Peseiro’s contract with the NFF will expire this year, and if he fails to perform, he could get the sack.
