Jose Peseiro’s Super Eagles played a disappointing 1-1 draw against Juan Micha’s Equatorial Guinea in their opening AFCON Group A game.
Super Eagles head coach, Jose Vitor Peseiro, has handed Nigeria’s game against Ivory Coast into God’s hands, and is optimistic for a great result, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Portuguese tactician led the Nigerian football team to qualification for the AFCON tournament in grand style, including a stellar aggregate 16-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe.
In their opening Group A clash against Equatorial Guinea, his team played a 1-1 draw, with scuffed chances and absence of clinicality from Victor Osimhen and Zaidu Sanusi being the talking points for everyone that watched the game at the Stade Olympique Ouattara in Ivory Coast.
After the game against the Equitoguineans, the coach mentioned that God gives and God takes, and hoped that God will give his team a favourable result as they take on Ivory Coast today.
The former Porto manager reiterated his point in his pre-game conference, ahead of the clash between The Elephants Of Ivory Coast and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
“Like I said earlier, God gives, God takes. We can only create the chances to score and hope God gives us this match against Cote D’Iviore,” Peseiro told Soccernet.ng.
Nigeria will be without Antwerp midfielder, Yusuf Alhassan against Ivory Coast after the 23-year-old versatile player picked an injury on his debut against Equatorial Guinea.

God yes. Luck yes. The main issue is that super eagles must work as a team to be able to beat ivory coast. They must fight to win balls and take their chances excellently.
