With four points from their opening two games, the Super Eagles of Nigeria need just a draw in their next game to be assured an entry into the AFCON 2023 round of sixteen.
Kayserispor and Guinea-Bissau winger, Carlos Mane, has set sights on upsetting the Super Eagles of Nigeria when both sides face each other tomorrow, Soccernet.ng reports.
Mane, 29, was born and raised in Portugal, and even featured for the National team at various youth levels before choosing to represent Guinea-Bissau.
Baciro Cande’s men are yet to secure a point in Ivory Coast, after losing to the host and Equatorial Guinea, and for Mane, it’s all about ending the tournament on a high.
“We have zero points in the competition but we have to fight to get a good result. We will go into the game with a strong mentality, we will try to win. We know Nigeria very well,” the former VFB Stuttgart winger said In the pre-match conference ahead of tomorrow’s game.
The Kayserispor winger added that it’s no easy task to defeat the Super Eagles, but it’s a challenge he’s willing to take on along with his teammates.
“They have a good coach who was my coach at Sporting Lisbon four years ago. It’s going to be difficult to beat Nigeria, but we will play for our country and our family. We will surely make things difficult for them,” the former Sporting Lisbon winger added.
Nigeria will be without Yussuf Alhassan who is yet to recover from a thigh injury he picked up in Nigeria’s draw against Equatorial Guinea.
