Watch: Gift Orban dances with Super Eagles jersey despite AFCON omission

Gift Orban has been omitted from the Super Eagles provisional squad list for 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament

KAA Gent forward, Gift Orban, was recently seen dancing in the Nigerian Super Eagles jersey, even though he did not make it to Jose Peseiro’s provisional squad list for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Soccernet.ng reports.

Despite his absence from the 40-man provisional squad announced by the Super Eagles, Orban’s exclusion surprised many, especially considering his strong performances compared to some included players like Emmanuel Dennis of Nottingham Forest.

Rumors circulating suggest that his omission could be linked to Togo’s claims that he might be eligible to play for their national team rather than Nigeria.

Nevertheless, Orban seemed unfazed by the omission, donning a complete Nigerian jersey and enjoying himself while dancing to Teejay and Davido’s track ‘Drift.’

Watch the video here:

This is not the first time Orban has been in Super Eagles attire; he was previously invited by Peseiro for the AFCON qualifiers against São Tomé and Principe. Unfortunately, he could not feature due to an injury picked up before the match.

As the Super Eagles gear up for a preparatory tournament in Saudi Arabia just ahead of the AFCON tournament, Orban will not be among the team members.
