Victor Boniface credits German midfielder influence in Bayer Leverkusen move

Victor Boniface joined Bayer Leverkusen from Royale Union SG during the summer transfer window

Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface, has credited Florian Wirtz as a significant influence behind his decision to join Bayer Leverkusen, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian forward made the transition from Royale Union SG to Bayer Leverkusen during the summer transfer window for a reported fee of around €20 million.

Boniface and Wirtz have formed a formidable partnership at the Bundesliga club, contributing significantly to Xabi Alonso’s side currently leading the league table.

Since arriving from Union SG in the summer, Boniface, formerly of Bodo/Glimt, has displayed exceptional form, tallying seven goals and five assists in just 12 games.

In an interview with Sportbuzzer, Boniface praised Wirtz’s footballing brilliance, highlighting the German’s impact on his decision to join Leverkusen.

“Flo[rian Wirtz] is a brilliant footballer, a magician. When my agent mentioned Bayer’s interest, the chance to play alongside him was an opportunity I couldn’t resist,” he explained.

The Nigerian forward expressed his admiration for Wirtz’s abilities after their initial game together, solidifying his belief in the move to Bayer Leverkusen.

Their partnership on the field has not only boosted Leverkusen’s performances but also unveiled the bond between Boniface and Wirtz, playing a pivotal role in the club’s success in the league.
