Super Eagles star attracts EPL interest as Crystal Palace, Wolves, Leeds United jostle

A big 2024 awaits the Nigerian international as he could be on his way to the English top flight following a brilliant spell in Turkey

Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel’s lifelong dream of playing in the Premier League could become a reality this January, Soccernet.ng reports.

Crystal Palace have emerged as the front-runner in the competition for the Fenerbahce right-back, outpacing Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United in the pursuit, according to TEAMtalk.

The 25-year-old Osayi-Samuel began his professional journey at Blackpool before landing at Queens Park Rangers in 2017, spending three and a half years at Loftus Road.

Going abroad for the first time in January 2021, Osayi-Samuel moved to Fenerbahce, where he has since gained invaluable experience.

The Nigerian international has impressed while representing the Turkish club in Champions League qualifying, Europa League, and Europa Conference League.

The pinnacle of Osayi-Samuel’s time in a Fenerbahce jersey was clinching the Turkish Cup last season, securing a 2-0 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir in the final.

Following his success in Turkey, speculations trailed Osayi-Samuel’s potential return to England in the summer, but nothing came out of the rumours.

However, Crystal Palace are believed to be actively considering bringing the defender back to England, impressed by his consistent performances this season.

Fenerbahce’s current top position in the league table and their advancement from the Europa Conference League group in first place owe credit to Osayi-Samuel’s contributions.

A key factor motivating Palace’s interest is the impending expiration of Osayi-Samuel’s contract in June 2025, fueling hopes of securing the player at a reduced cost next year.

However, Crystal Palace faces competition from other Premier League contenders.

Both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United have expressed interest in capturing the Nigerian international in recent weeks, intensifying the race for Osayi-Samuel’s signature.
