‘Same class as Ronaldinho’- Ex-Al Ahly boss Mosimane salutes Super Eagles legend

Ronaldinho joined Okocha at Paris Saint-Germain in 2001, and it was rumoured that Okocha gave him guidance while he was a player there

Former Al Ahly manager Pitso Mosimane has acknowledged former Nigerian international Austin Jay Jay Okocha’s endorsement for the Super Eagles job, Soccernet.ng reports.

In a prior report by Soccernet.ng, Okocha had suggested someone like Mosimane as an ideal candidate to lead the Nigerian senior national team.

Following this recommendation, the South African manager expressed his gratitude towards the Super Eagles legend in response to a video shared by the media outlet that featured an interview with Okocha.

As the Super Eagles prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, concerns persist among fans regarding Peseiro’s capabilities, especially with the team’s recent record of three draws and two wins in their last five matches.

Earlier reports quoted Okocha praising Mosimane as one of the finest coaches on the continent and emphasising the potential value he could bring to Nigerian football due to his extensive experience in Africa.

In response, Mosimane, currently without a club, lauded the African legend and likened him to former Brazilian forward Ronaldinho.

“Legendary JJ. Have you seen his footage when he was playing? He used to turn defenders in Europe inside out. Same class as Ronaldinho. A Gentleman also,” Mosimane remarked.

Previously, Nigerian Sports Minister John Enoh held a meeting with Jose Peseiro ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. Peseiro’s contract, concluding after the tournament, may serve as a pivotal moment determining his renewal or exit from the Nigerian team.
