Nigerians abroad: Dessers, Mamah, Ighodaro, Moffi, Boniface on fire in Scotland, France, Germany, Turkey

Soccernet.ng highlights some eye-catching displays from Nigerian footballers outside the country’s shores on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.

GERMANY

In the Bundesliga, Victor Boniface responded to being named in Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations by coming off the bench to find the target in Bayer Leverkusen’s 4-0 win over Bochum.

It was Boniface’s tenth goal of the season, the most the youngster has managed in his career, and the first time he has struck double digits.

FRANCE

In Ligue 1, Akor Adams was unlucky not to hit the target during Montpellier’s 1-1 draw with Marseille.

The night could have gone a lot better for Bonke Innocent and Lorient after they fell to a humbling 4-0 loss at Brest.

Terem Moffi ended his mini-goal drought as he shrugged off injury concerns to come off the bench and net the two goals that handed OGC Nice a 2-0 win over Lens.

Terem Moffi

Moses Simon and Nantes were on the receiving end of a narrow 1-0 defeat to Lyon in Ligue 1.

Chiamaka Nnadozie inspired Paris FC to their second win of the UEFA Women’s Champions League as she made a few crucial saves in a 1-0 win over Real Madrid.

AZERBAIJAN

Otto John opened the scoring for Turan, but Zira fought back to claim a 2-1 win and dump the visitors out of the FA Cup.

CAF CONFEDERATION CUP

Peter Nworah provided the assist to Abu Salim’s first goal as the Libyans secured their third straight win in the competition with a 0-2 triumph away to Guinea’s SOAR Coyah.

Etiosa Ighodaro scored a brilliant late header to help South Africa’s Supersports United clinch a tough 2-1 win over Libya’s Al Hilal – their first victory in the competition.

Kingsley Eduwo grabbed a brilliant brace for Tunisia’s Club Africain as they carved out an excellent 3-0 victory over former Nigeria champions, Rivers United.

ITALY

Teen wonder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro was named to Inter Milan’s squad for their Coppa Italia clash with Bologna.

It, however, ended in disappointment for the league leaders as Bologna claimed a hard-fought 2-1 win in extra-time.

SCOTLAND

In the Premiership, Cyriel Dessers replaced Kemar Roofe after only 16 minutes and scored ten minutes later to fire Glasgow Rangers to a fine 2-0 win over St. Johnstone, who had Diallang Jaiyesimi red-carded in the 33rd minute.

THAILAND

Gafar Durosinmi was among the goals for Nakhon Pathom United as they advanced to the next round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 triumph over Buriram United.

TURKEY

In the Super Lig, Bright Osayi-Samuel impressed for Fenerbahce as they served a seven-goal thriller in their 4-3 win away to Kayserispor.

Kenneth Omeruo showed all his experience and tenacity to help Kasımpaşa battle to a clean sheet and a goalless draw at Antalyaspor.

In the 1. Lig, Kenneth Mamah scored the first and assisted the second to lift Göztepe to a commanding 5-1 victory against Eyüpspor.
