Two Super Eagles stars were in action on the night, but one stole the show
Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman scored a brace for Atlanta to spur them to a 3-2 win over AC Milan at the Gewiss Stadium, Soccernet.ng reports.
Two Super Eagles stars were in action when Atlanta welcomed AC Milan. Lookman started for Atalanta, while Chukwueze was in Milan colours.
The game was lively from the start, with AC Milan dominating the early exchanges. However, they had to wait till the 38th minute before the games started pouring in.
Lookman put Atalanta in front in the 38th minute. He capitalized on a defensive mix-up in the box after the AC Milan defenders failed to clear their lines following a throw-in and struck the ball into the net.
However, Olivier Giroud responded for the Rossoneri just before the break to put both teams on level terms.
Atalanta started the second half well, and they got rewarded early on, as Lookman struck again. He got on the end of a square ball from Charles De Ketelaere and placed a clean finish past Mike Maignan to put La Dea ahead again.
Chukwueze had a poor game, and he was eventually taken off for Ismael Bennacer in the 59th minute.
Milan were on the front foot for most of the second half, and they eventually pulled one back via Luka Jovic in the 80th minute.
It looked like the game was going to end in a draw, but Luis Muriel scored in stoppage time to ensure La Dea ran out with all three points after the 3-2 win.
Lookman’s brace ensured that he drew level on goals with compatriot Victor Osimhen on six goals. He also won the man award for his hardwork in the game.
