EPL: Ola Aina’s strike against Aston Villa nominated for Nottingham Forest goal of the month award

Ola Aina featured for forty-five minutes in the Super Eagles 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe and played six minutes in the draw against Lesotho.

Super Eagles full-back, Ola Aina, has had his long-range goal against Aston Villa nominated for Nottingham Forrest’s goal of the month award, Soccernet.ng reports.

Aina, 27, moved to Nottingham on a free transfer after his contract with Italian side, Torino expired last summer, and has featured as a regular for the reds, playing right and left back when he’s been called upon.

The former Fulham defender also won the Nottingham Forest player of the month award for September and now, has his goal nominated for the goal of the month award.

Celebrating in a Yakubu Aiyegbeni’s style, Aina’s strike was a thing of pure class. A pass from Antony Elanga strayed into the path of the Nigerian, who was just outside the box, and he sidefooted his shot into the bottom corner of Emiliano Martinez’s goal.

The strike drew praise from Michael Owen and other big footballing names, and is up for November nomination award, alongside four other goals from Nottingham’s first,  academy and women’s players as released on the club’s official website.

Ola Aina’s strike in the win against Aston Villa and Anthony Elanga’s finish against West Ham United are up for nomination, with B Team duo Ateef Konaté and Jack Thompson’s goals against Wolves and Accrington Stanley respectively also nominated.

Forest Women midfielder Niamh Reynolds’ goal against Sheffield FC is also up for nomination.
