Bundesliga: Spectacular Boniface nominated for Rookie of the Month Award for the fourth consecutive time

Last season’s UEFA Europa League top-scorer, Boniface, joined Leverkusen after a spectacular season with Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.

Super Eagles striker, Victor Okoh Boniface, has been nominated for the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award for the fourth month running, Soccernet.ng reports.

Boniface, 22, joined Die Werkself from Union Saint-Gilloise last summer in a deal going up to twenty-two million euros, and since then, has scored eight goals and set them up another five times in just thirteen outings.

The Nigerian has carted away with every Rookie of the Month award since he arrived in the Bundesliga, and now, has been nominated for the same award for November.

RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons and S.C. Freiburg’s Merlin Röhl have also been nominated for the award for the newcomers in the league.

Röhl raked in two goals and an assist for Christian Streich’s side last month and helped them stay unbeaten in the league, and now they sit comfortably in the 8th position.

Xavi has also been a revelation for Marco Rose’s side. The 20-year-old Dutch has been consistent with his performances since joining Die Rotten Bullen on loan from Paris Saint-German. He has scored four goals and assisted seven times in thirteen games.

Bayer Leverkusen remain the only side in the European top five leagues yet to be beaten in all competitions and have scored the most goals across Europe so far this season.

Xabi Alonso’s men are mounting a title charge and hope to be Bundesliga Champions in May.
